ANTaR Qld Learning More Discussion Night coming up on Thursday 27th October 6 - 8 p.m in St Lucia. As part of our once a month program come and join us in discussing the Award winning book That Deadman Dance, by K.M. Scott (winner of the Miles Franklin Award for 2011) . Deaths in Custody Vigil
Monday 7th November
5-5.30pm gathering at Musgrave park then walk to Brereton Street to stand and pray in candle vigil to remember Daniel Yock who died in custody on that night in 1994.
New School Close the Gap Fundraising Luncheon

We hope to be up and running at our new school site and developing our Community Hub at the beginning of 2012. We already have over 120 students eager to attend Hymba Yumba next year. With your assistance, we will be able to commence building on our new exciting facilities. Immerse yourself in a yarn about the importance of family, understanding and issues that have impacted strongly on Aboriginal families. Under the guidance of one of Australia's leading actor/directors, Leah Purcell, Stolen will be told with honesty, sensitivity and humour, traits always evident in Purcell's work. Performed by the talented students from (ACPA), Stolen is a rich tapestry of music, dance and drama. Experience this memorable work and delve into an important part of Australian Indigenous history.

Rally at Roma Street Forum at 12pm Saturday 19th November, anniversary of Mulrunje’s death in custody on Palm Island in 2004. Then march onto Musgrave Park.

Let’s Fight Racism campaign
Launch of the Let’s Fight Racism campaign by the Civil Society Section Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The campaign focuses on the message that each of us can play a part in combating racism and xenophobia in our own communities. Using eight images of people of different ethnicities, the campaign aims to help us understand how perceptions (or misperceptions) can perpetuate racial prejudices and related intolerance. The campaign encourages the individual to "take a stand against racism", with a number of suggestions available.
